Indomie - Vintage Packaging
Indomie has becoming legend in instant noodle industry, especially in Indonesia - or even worldwide, especially Indomie Goreng signature. It tastes very yummy and has its own signature.
When I go back to Indonesia, I always see new Indomie flavour launched minimum every six months. So yes, R&D in Indofood company -- which produce Indomie-- is innovative, always develops and launchs new Indomie product, not stuck with those signature flavours (Indomie Goreng, Indomie Kari Ayam, Indomie Kaldu Ayam, Indomie Soto Ayam, etc).
They also develop local flavour Indomie, such as Indomie Mie Celor, Indomie Goreng Rendang, Indomie Sambal Matah, Indomie Sambal Rica, etc. I even imagine if I am a tourist, maybe I will buy Indomie Nusantara Flavour to bring to my country as souvenirs. The level is almost same like KitKat Japan. Can you imagine you go to Japan and not buy the Local Japanese KitKat? Oh, come on.. :)

To celebrate 45th anniversary of Indomie, Indofood released vintage Indomie packaging. To survive in the market for 45 years is not an easy task. Can you imagine your grandparents eat Indomie as well as your kids?
Packaging is the first we see when we decide to buy food or not to buy. Packaging design presents what is inside the pack or suggestion how to serve it. I think I will never see the Indomie with first packaging design in the market ever again. However, Indofood with its innovative idea launched the vintage Indomie packaging. That's a really cool and creative way of marketing.
Only the packaging is different, the formula is still the same. It shows how interesting the packaging design journey in Indonesia. Forty five years ago, the color and printing are not as good as now. The vintage packaging color is fade and not bright. Nowadays, the packaging design is more unique and creative with easier tools such as design software and faster computer. The color, printing method and packaging material are much better and more affordable than in the past.
I can imagine your grandparents are feeling nostalgic when they see the vintage Indomie packaging. At least, I imagine they smile while saying "this is how Indomie look-like when I was young."
